Who Are We?

I strongly believe every child is a unique individual with his/her own style of learning and expression. Kids embrace and encourage these differences as they inspire and motivate the staff by example.
The nursery rhyme, The Colours of the Rainbow, helps teach the scholars about the wonder of rainbows and all their colours, while they sing and play:
“Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet are the colours of the rainbow.Colours are everywhere you can see.Yeah, colours were made for you and me!…Everywhere you look, everywhere you see, colours make the world a beautiful place to be!”
I am the founder of Cherubs Cove Montessori Childcare. I have a master’s degree in Human Resources Management from Edith Cowan University, Perth, Australia. Although my career began in the corporate world as a Human Resource professional in various Tier one organizations, both at home here in Canada and in Australia. I always had a passion for working with kids and made this passion a reality with the help of my mother, Dr. Nita David, an accomplished teacher/professor with almost 35 years of teaching experience under her belt. We combined our skills and expertise in people management and teaching and came up with the idea of providing quality, safe and nurturing childcare and early childhood education.
For parents who are entrusting their most precious possession to the care of educators, finding the “right” school can be a challenging and daunting task. Cherubs Cove is a “Home away from Home” where these young kids are taught values, discipline and structure through programs, which is a mix of Play and Montessori.
When not at Cherubs Cove, I love to go travelling, hiking, camping and long drives. Both my husband and I are fitness enthusiasts and love working out together. Also, a pet mum to an 8-year-old pug named Duffy, who I love spending time with Axel our one-year-old son.

The conductor shares the spotlight. When the concert is over, and the audience is clapping, the conductor turns to the audience and takes a bow. A good conductor immediately turns to the orchestra and invites them to stand and bow as well. He shares the glory with his colleagues, realizing that without them, the music would be silent.
This is the same in an educational institution. Without our pupils, teachers and parents, books would be empty and school classrooms silent. It takes a team effort to awaken music and a team effort to inspire learning. All play their part, and all are equally important.
With over 35 years of teaching experience, having taught nearly all age groups at Cherubs Cove, I diverse experience from educating preschoolers to harnessing university students and I am a mother. With a passion for young-hearted children, I feel that is the age where the personality of the child is formed which carries throughout his/her lifetime. At Cherubs Cove, I am the senior teacher, teaching one of the preschool classes.
I believe in setting a strong foundation for our children to help them to become lifelong learners. I am a certified teacher by profession (OCT). I possess a Bachelor of Arts Degree, Bachelor of Education, Master of Arts in Sociology and a Doctorate in Philosophy. In addition, I continue to teach Sociology at the undergraduate level at the university. I have also co-authored a book for undergraduates in sociology.
It is my duty and honour to oversee the curriculum for the various programs and activities, such as field trips, concerts and special days. I will also help support the professional development of the teachers through my experience as an educator. I would like to consider myself as a lifelong learner who continues to research the latest best practices to further enhance the learning experience for all of my students.
In my free time, I actively participate in various community events and activities with my husband, like serving the homeless, helping in the seniors’ home, helping new immigrants. Cooking, shopping and travelling are always on my to-do list.
Not just your typical day!
Dream it.
School supervision starts at 7 am with freedom of play. Suddenly the bell rings… The clock has struck 9 am and the morning circle is about to begin. I don’t want to be late. With laughter and clapping we learn songs, days of the week, months of the year, shapes, colours number and letters. Wow, there is so much to learn at school and I have made a new friend.
Build it.
With this much excitement, it’s sure to build up an appetite. I wonder what we going to have. Could it be an apple, a banana or a muffin? With a tummy full I am ready to take on the playground at 9:30 am. The bell rings and I have to leave the playground to join my fellow classmates for some Language/ Math/ Art & Craft/ Sensorial/ Practical life activities. Hopefully today we can sneak in time for that story about the beanstalk.
Grow it.
Something is brewing in the kitchen I can smell it; lunchtime. The food tastes so good that I can just sleep, it’s a good thing nap time follows lunch. With my batteries all charged up, I’m ready for a small snack at 2:15 pm. I’m going to need that apple now as I express myself through Sensorial/ Practical life/ Self-expression/ Music skills. But I haven’t finished playing on the playground and it’s 4 pm already. School Supervision continues to 6 pm.
